Villa Domenico is set on a blooming hillside in Slovenian Istria, within the peaceful settlement of Sveti Anton near Koper. The area offers beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding green hills, reflecting the gentle rhythm of the landscape. With its fenced courtyard and spacious Mediterranean garden, the villa provides a secure and relaxing retreat. It is a place of calm and quiet where nature, comfort and the essence of slow living come together.

INSPIRED BY NATURE AND LEGACY

Dating back to around 1790, the original stone house was built by our great-great-grandfather DomenicoTurco. He worked as a stone miner at night and spent his days building the house, creating a home for his wife and children through perseverance and hard work. Restoring and renovating the house was our way of honoring his effort and legacy. Inspired by the raw beauty of nature, we brought back the spirit of the original home as a quiet tribute to a time that shaped the landscape of the Istrian countryside. Istria is a land of stone, strong contrasts, and cultural crossroads. Here, stone, wood, and iron are the essential elements. They reflect the surrounding natural landscape and carry forward the legacy of those who came before us.

Our modern kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, pans, and all necessary cutlery, making meal preparation easy and enjoyable. From the adjoining balcony, you can take in a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and charming hamlets.

The courtyard opens into a Mediterranean garden with native trees and herbs. Shaded by almond, and quince trees and scented with rosemary, sage, and thyme, the space reflects the pristine spirit of the land. There’s an outdoor fireplace for cooking, and a hot tub available in summer and early autumn. From the garden, you can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding hills and hamlets.

Enjoy the pastoral charm of our on-site hencoop, where a friendly flock of hens roams freely, providing fresh eggs daily. We call them our ladies.

The villa is ideal for families, couples, and small groups. While we love children and enjoy their presence, the house may not be the most suitable choice for kids under 10, due to certain features of the garden and house interior.

We visit the villa twice a day to tend to the hot tub, water the plants and care for the hens. Should you need anything, we’re always just a message away.

Upon arrival, we'll personally welcome you, briefly introduce you to the house, and share a few practical tips before you settle in.
